Big Benefits of Small Spaces: Why Less Truly Is More

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to live in a small space? Lately, I can’t stop thinking about how freeing and efficient it feels to have less—less clutter, less cleaning, and more time to enjoy what truly matters. There’s something so satisfying about creating a cozy, functional home that doesn’t overwhelm you with endless upkeep.

Our first home was approximately 835 sq ft. At first, I thought, “Wow, this is a tiny space,” but as soon as we started living there, I realized it had all the space we needed.

In addition, it had all these perks that I hadn’t even thought about. The electricity bill was only $25 a month, and the water bill was about the same. We had a nice yard, and we found ourselves enjoying both the indoor and outdoor spaces. When our daughter was born, we could see her and keep track of her whereabouts within the house, which made cooking and doing other things around the house easy. On top of that, we paid about 30% less for our home than our neighbors with larger houses, yet we enjoyed all the amazing amenities our neighborhood had to offer.

To date, we have lived in five homes, but my favorite has been that bungalow in Northern California. I’m so sad we sold it. Back then, we thought we needed more space, but the truth was we had all the space we needed.

Today, I want to share some YouTube links showcasing beautifully decorated and thoughtfully planned small spaces. I hope these videos inspire you to consider living in smaller spaces and see the unique opportunities they offer. These homes not only provide a cozy environment but also open up opportunities to save money and enjoy pursuing other goals on your bucket list.

Next time you see a listing for a small space, explore it and imagine how you could make it your own. You might be surprised by how much joy and simplicity a smaller home can bring to your life.
