In a world where most kids spend their time on screens, it’s a rare and heartwarming sight to witness a child who loves to read. Our 11-year-old daughter, since her earliest days, has loved books.  For her, reading is not just a pastime but an immersive experience.

While many of her peers may spend hours glued to TVs or iPads, she chooses to immerse herself in the enchanting world of literature. She describes reading as being like watching a movie unfold within her mind—a vivid, personalized experience that no screen can replicate. It’s a testament to the power of imagination and storytelling.

Instead of spending hours watching TV or being on an iPad, she reads. At the top of her list of favorite books is the timeless tale of wizardry and wonder, Harry Potter. From the moment she started reading this book she was hooked. She might not have understood every detail of the plot, but the adventures of Harry, Hermione, and Ron captivate her imagination like no other.  She’s revisited these same books multiple times, each reading unearthing new details and insights.

But her literary journey doesn’t stop there. She has delved into the fantastical realms of Wings of Fire and Land of Stories, where heroes and heroines embark on epic quests and face daunting challenges. She has followed the fashion-forward adventures of Zoey in Sew Zoey, and she’s traversed the treacherous paths of mythology alongside Percy Jackson.

And then there are the heartwarming stories like The One and Only Ivan and Wonder, which teach her about empathy, kindness, and the beauty of being different. She’s also been captivated by the mysteries and intrigues of Keeper of the Lost Cities and The Guardian Herd, where secrets lurk around every corner and friendships are tested against the backdrop of magical realms.

Recently, she’s discovered the joys of audiobooks, expanding her reading repertoire even further. With headphones perched on her ears, she listens intently to narrators weaving tales of adventure and discovery, adding a new dimension to her love for stories.

As parents, we couldn’t be prouder. In a world where distractions abound, her love for reading is a beacon of hope. It’s a reminder that, even in the digital age, the simple pleasure of getting lost in a good book remains possible for our tweens.

Curious to discover which books top our 11-year-old’s reading list, we posed the question, and here’s what she enthusiastically shared:
